Newgrange is a prehistoric mound and monument in Ireland dating to about 3200 B.C. For 5000 years, it has been telling time by acting as an astronomical clock. At about 9AM every year on December 21st, the winter solstice, the sun shines into and lights up the main passage way for approximately 15 minutes, signaling the bottom of the solar cycle and the promise of a new year. |
